Out and About

Sailing on Loch Ness
The sound of the pipes at New Year
Downhill mountain biking near Fort William

There are many places to visit and things to do whilst staying at The Loch Ness Inn.

We are perfectly located for Drumnadrochit (1 Mile) with its famous Loch Ness Monster exhibition and the world renowned Urquhart Castle just 5 minutes along the road on Loch Ness. And could there be anywhere better for exploring The Great Glen Way? You will find this an ideal base to tour the Western Highlands with Fort Augustus and its famous Abbey (20 miles) and Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in Britain, near Fort William, the Outdoor Capital of the UK and acclaimed to have the best downhill mountain bike track in the world, just 40 miles to the south.

Fifteen miles to the north driving along the lochside is the City of Inverness, the capital of the Highlands with its well known attractions including Inverness Castle and Eden Court Theatre. Jacobite Loch Ness Cruises and tours sailing throughout the year offer a relaxing way to see Loch Ness.

Just to the north of Inverness is the recently revamped Visitor Centre at The Culloden Battlefield and the eighteenth century military defences at Fort George. And no trip to Inverness is complete without a visit to Chanonry Point, the best place to see the dolphins in the Moray Firth. Visit when the tide is turning.

Time for some retail therapy? Brodie Countryfare is recommended.
